The River Runner is a documentary about the life and career of a kayaker named Scott Lindgren. He was the first person to complete all four rivers that flow from Mount Kailash. It focuses less on the physical barriers and challenges of being a professional kayaker and more on the mental aspects of it. In my opinion, Scott teaches an extremely valuable life lesson. When he was younger, he was the leader of his group of kayakers. He would always tell his groupmates that they need to be on their A-game mentally during their runs. If they weren't, they had to either man up or go home. It took him almost 20 years to realize that it's better to open up with your emotion than to absorb them. I really like these types of documentaries. It's interesting to go into the mind of someone who does an extreme sport for a living. They are crazy, but express some admirable qualities. They also never fail to offer some stunning views, and River Runner is no exception. If you like documentaries like Free Solo, then this is the documentary for you. It is beautifully made and features some amazing shots of the waves. I really enjoyed it and it will definitely be a movie I will remember for a while. 10/10 - Highly Recomend

I was not expecting this movie to be that good. I had absolutely no idea what this movie was about before I watched it. It took about 2 minutes for me to realize that its one of those cheesy rom-coms. That being said, this is probably the best cheesy rom-com I've ever watched. It had several more layers than the usual romantic comedy.
Legally Blonde put a girl from an LA community college into a prestigious east-coast school. She stands out in all her classes because of her bright clothes and frilly behavior. All the other students talk in a really monotonous voice and they all wear grey and black. The colors of the movie and her clothes show her character arc. When she was feeling insecure, she would wear grey. The brighter her clothes, the brighter her personality. Her clothes are especially noticeable because most of the sets are grey, tan, brown, and black. I didn't laugh as much in this movie as I did while watching other rom-coms, but I'm glad I didn't. I feel like the film would lose its some of its charm and its wholesome ending wouldn't have hit as hard if the writers made too many jokes on the irony of a California girl being in a smart person school. I would definitely recomend this movie to anyone who wants an easy movie to watch, but doesn't make you feel like your brain is melting. 8/10 I'm writing this while listening to Elton John.
I have no stake in Elton John. I haven't went out of my way to listen to his music and I didn't know anything about him other than that he was a singer. The best part of this movie was how well paced it was. At no point was I bored and there weren't any parts that felt rushed. The introduction of characters felt very natural and true to life, almost like this wasn't a movie and I was just watching his life unfold. The movie also told the story starting from when he was a young kid, putting emphasis on his parents' personalities. That part of his life explains a lot of the rest of his life. It was interesting how much the movie focused on Elton John being gay. I didn't think it would be one of the main struggles in the movie. I think the movie did a good job of telling it like it is and leaving it at that. Elton had a rough life. It was really hard to watch him take blow after blow to his self-worth. It all culminated with his spiral into alcoholism and drug abuse, which I thought the movie portrayed very well. That whole section of the movie was filled with short, muffled, and surreal scenes. Anyways, this was an 8/10 movie about Elton John's life. I liked how the movie starts and ends with him in that hospital, but it sort of closed the narrative to only talk about his problems, resulting in a pretty dark movie. |
